Well, this afternoon, after a half day of elementary music and some asprin for my headache, I signed the paperwork for selling the house. Don't panic - we won't end up out in the street! We have a clause that says any offers are contengent upon us getting the house we want before we agree to sell! I've got writer's cramp from signing so many forms, but let's all pray that this time the $575 K selling price will actually be enough to buy Sam's house and get us out of debt! (Big hint: Sam needs to get a little more realistic about his asking price of $495....) Anyway, that's the news. I really do like this big, old house. It has been a great place to live, and it would have been nice if we could have kept it long enough for one of you kids to buy it, but it looks like that won't be happening. That's ok. Now none of you will feel obligated to buy it!
I'll keep you posted on how it all goes!

I'm guessing John Beutler is pretty happy with you two. I can't believe you're actually selling the old place. So many memories housed there. I mean, how long have you lived there, like 4 1/2 years? That's a darn long time for us to be in one place.
I am getting a little sad. I know, I wasn't the most suportive daughter about selling the house on the lake to buy this one so dad could walk out the front yard and golf, but now I have grown to like it a lot! Like Heather said, it is the longest we have been in the same house...Right? Well way to price the house so low and drive his price on his house down...you guys are great business people! Good Luck!
How clever of you two to do this before Darbye gets home and gets married and then moves in for a while like the rest of us.... It all makes since now! :)
I am still trying to find out if the "witness protection program" is government run or something else....That you can just do it is great. I assume your stay ing the Ward boundries or is this away to get released ;)
Hey, Bud and I never moved in! We're the only married hold-outs! Yes!
That's cause it was occupied at the time. Don't act like you are better than any of the rest of us!
We will miss our home! Up until Philly that was the longest we lived anywhere. Good luck with the sale.
I saw your link on Tamar's blog and had to take a peek and was SO sad to read this post! Your house is where my husband first laid eyes on me and fell instantly in love! hahaha! I have many fond memories of visiting your wonderful family there. Congrats on things to come!
